Under-Development Videos

December 2007 teaser. This was recorded and released while Schizoid was still under development. The most visible thing that changed between the release of this video and the release of the final game: The look of the player shields. In this video, whenever one player ship explodes, watch the other player ship — the shields look quite different than they do.

Our playability testing after this video was taken showed that many players were not catching on that once one ship is destroyed, the other ship is invulnerable for a few seconds, which is really valuable when you're trying to clear out a swarm of enemies. We subsequently redid the look of the shields to make them "look like the most important thing on the screen" in order to try to cue the player to this.
